Jim Grahl is a surfer and hot-rodder who found his way into an unexpected and fulfilling career as a jeweler. His jewelry training began in 1963 with Cooper and Schuber, a historic Los Angeles workshop, where he worked with Van Cleef & Arpels, Pierre Touraine, Kazanjian’s, Russer, and others. Each mentor and company gave him a sense of the possibilities of jewelry as an art form, and early on he founded his own studio, J. Grahl Design.
