As the Trump administration works to make trade deals with numerous countries a reality, Jewelers of America is asking for a critical tariff exemption for diamonds and finished fine jewelry. On May 12, 2025, we sent our position statement on the matter to key members of the Trump cabinet including U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. Jewelers of America’s President & CEO David J. Bonaparte will follow-up these communications with meetings we are planning in Washington, D.C. in the near term.
