Five Faves: Tomasz Donocik
A look at Tomasz Donocik’s top five sources of inspiration
When asked to name five of his favorite things that inspire or help him to make great jewelry, Tomasz Donocik of London shared the following:
Travel
I have been to many place around the world, and each has its own rich history and culture—an environment that makes it completely unique. I’m inspired by sights that are different from my surroundings at home.
Literature
I enjoy reading novels about different time periods and places to which I can travel in my mind. Only books can do that for you. Reading Lermontov inspired my first collection.
Architecture
The only vast difference between architecture and jewelry design is scale. I admire both modern structures designed with state-of-the-art technology and old buildings with beautifully carved details.
Film
I love movies that tell a story mixed with beautifully shot scenes, interesting characters, and music. I think a lot of people get caught up in the magic of movies, and I’m no exception.
Materials
I’m a very tactile person, and my jewelry shows a combination of contrasting textures. I love working and experimenting with leather. It has the feeling of luxury, and it is so versatile.
