Jewelers of America diligently monitors Congress and ensures members stay informed of all our activities on their behalf. We take an active role, lobbying legislators to act in members’ interest, organizing letter writing campaigns, meeting with politicians face-to-face and impacting decisions made during each congressional session pertinent to the jewelry industry. The Jewelers of America Political Action Committee (JAPAC), our government affairs arm, helps jewelers recognize Senators and Representatives acting in their interest.

Our actions and efforts have led Congress to repeal the federal luxury tax on jewelry, increase insurance limits for items shipped via U.S. mail and block restriction easing of military base jewelry sales. JA frequently communicates with members of Congress through a full-time staff in its Washington office.
