The Haake & Associates team of Timothy Haake, founder and principal, and Edward Getterman, director of public affairs, directly communicates with members of Congress on behalf of Jewelers of America and our members. Through our lobbying efforts, we have achieved great success in Congress in support of members’ interest.

Regulatory Advocacy
Jewelers of America works on behalf of members and the industry at large to influence important regulatory matters and the executive branch of government. Through our outside legal counsel, Weil Gotshal & Manges, LLP, as well as Haake & Associates, we’ve represented the interests of the retail jewelry marketplace on far-reaching issues, including:
- Anti-money laundering, working with the U.S. Treasury Department
- Irradiated gemstones, helping to establish guidelines for their legal importation with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
- International trade issues, working with the U.S. Trade Representative Office (USTR)
