History of Jewelers of America

Founded in 1906, Jewelers of America began as the American National Retail Jewelers Association, founded by retail jewelers. In 1957, the ANRJA (combined with the National Credit Jewelers Association) became the Retail Jewelers of America (RJA). After officially dropping the "R" to become Jewelers of America, JA merged with JIC (Jewelry Information Center) in 2009, becoming both an industry- and consumer-facing organization. Since its beginning, JA has been dedicated to supporting jewelers –both independents and majors – and being the official resource for trustworthy fine jewelry industry information.
